Was thinking about doing STAR on 10/6 or 7 (tue/wed) @ streets or 10/10-11 @ pahrump. I think it would be nice to start getting some feedback on what i could be doing a little better. anybody interested in doing the same?

How much? are you doing both days or just 1?

i'd probably just do the 1, maybe 2 if the wife wants to hang out for the weekend. it's $250 for 1 day @ 'rump. $500 for the weekend. 195/day for streets. pricey, but you can get a set of GPA's for $250 if you sign up for the school.

i think i could take the day off for the mid-week SOWS date, or i wouldn't mind going back to pahrump.

Thats actually pretty cheap... That includes the track day right? I can already get GPA's for $250 through california superbike school. I have to pay tax though and they are probably the gen1 or gen2 tires.

Oh reary? What days you guys doing?

I'd probably rather do it at Pahrump... I did all the superbike schools at SOW and I'm kinda over it... LOL!

yeah i think i'd rather do the pahrump date.

I guess $100 extra for actual instruction isn't much at all. i'm also thinking about doing the track X season finale and get some coaching with Gags, but we'll see.

i can feel the poor, and force is strong with it.

Me and Matt will be there in October at Pahrump with the star school. If you haven't done a star school its well worth the money and if he lowered the price to only $500 for the weekend thats cheaper than we paid for it back in 2003...well worth doing out there!

I highly recommend this school. This was my first track experience and I was draggin knee by the end of the day and more comfortable than I've ever been on a bike.

All of the instructors are very professional and knowledgable. Jason even did 2-up rides at the end of the day for anyone that wanted to go.

You could always rent a bike if yours isn't ready to go by then. It's not cheap but if you figure in tires, fuel, getting it to the track, etc., it's not exorbitant. IMO, that is.

This sounds tempting.

I was considering Pahrump again over Turkey Day w/ Ti2tt...but I think I might be willing to spring for this.

hmmm i'm thinking of doing this, since i won't be around the weekend of oct 3 to make the trackdaz academy.

i'm not sure if i want to tow my bike all the way out there though. My bike is a 250, is it going to be too crazy of a jump to jsut rent the SV650 out there?

I'll be there for both days!! This would be my 4th time with STAR school, and each of the times before, I seem to pick something else up to take with me.

Well, cuz Buttonwillow is such a nicer track and facility. Duh!

:laughing

How much ride time do you get?

Lots of time. IIRC, twenty to thirty minute on-track sessions follow classroom learnin' time; it repeats throughout the day with a short lunch break.

Hmmm... good looking out, Hoolie! Although $500/day for a gixxer and a $2500 deposit. :ohno Even $350/day and a $1000 for an SV is steep. It's cheaper to go through www.sportbikerentals.com and not tell them I'm doing a track day... And for $500 I might as well fix the F4 :notooth

How much ride time do you get?

A bunch. Atleast the same probably more than a normal trackday. It goes Class/Track/Class/Track and rotates every 20 or 30 minutes.

They run a "Streets" group and an "Advanced" group.

I was going to commit to STAR school at Pahrump...I even had the money set aside for it....but then a group of friends wants to mountain bike Big Bear on Saturday Oct. 10th...and then Tractactics throws in the Big Willow Trackday for only $85 for Monday Oct. 12th. Unfortunately, I chose the cheaper option.

Next time for sure.

Hey!

Normally I'm just a lurker here but just felt I had to thank both of you for posting about that offer. Damn they got good deals. I booked THill for pridmore. $349 for 2 days is just too good. Had to sign up for their forum to see the offers and codes but for that offer it was just worth it. :owneddance

You guys missed a terrific day at the track.......he taught us things that were so obvious and amazing and no one ever thought about it....I have been struggling hanging off and went through Keith Codes level I and II and used the lean bike and everything...well Jason's group showed me what I was doing wrong and for the first time I EASILY hung off and flew around corners...for the first time, I came home from a track day and my knees didn't bother me at all....

The ride on the back of his bike was truly awe inspiring....

We never did over 85 MPH the whole day and just stayed in 2nd and 3rd gear...

He taught us about down shifting and keeping the rpm's consistent and gave us drills....also to practice clutchless upshifts and downshifts (!) with little clutch lever travel....also said we don't need to squeeze the lever in very much at all...we all do it too much...it 's all about maintaining the same rpm's when downshifting into corners and to start early.

The one on one experience with instructors surpassed Code's by a long shot too.
