Picked up this little gem last Thursday.
Rode it a couple times and it gets more looks than any cars or sport bikes I've ridden. Besides, it keeps me outta trouble with Johnny Law :)
1966 Triumph Tiger 500cc "Bobber"
Kick start only and starts first kick everytime :yippy
wow nice... the toys just keep piling up. you look the look with the half helmet lol
Dude that is a bad ass bike

Rear brake only.. LOL
And to make matters worse, the rear brake is on the left and the shifter is on the right! hahaha
Talk about a brain fart in a panic stop situation.
Guess the old bike pre 70's were all like this?
but yeah,, I gotta fat pinkie

LOL, nice! Yep, it took those Yurpeans (especially the Brits!) a long time to finally catch up to the rest of the world and put the shifter on the left and brake on the right. Is your Trumpet GP shift, too? Talk about a total mind fuck!
Now there's your perfect Southbay commuter bike!
Is this going to be a regular driver, or a collector piece?

Yeah, all my bikes are GP shift and this not only has the shifter on the opposite side tha I'm used to, but also regular 1 down 3 up! haha
I got the hang of it after a block or two though, just gotta think about it at first.
Now there's your perfect Southbay commuter bike!

Weekend warrior. Good thing about it, is the value. It will never go down

Given that much braking power, you never go over 40 mph on that thing, right?

Wow... that bike is COOL if ever anything was. :D Where did you find it?
Given that much braking power, you never go over 40 mph on that thing, right?
Basically learned to ride it with minimal traffic (weekends/holidays)
Give myself a shit load of room between myself and the car in front.
Ride to the front of the cars (splitting) at all red lights when possible. This way when it goes green, no one is in front of me to possibly hit when they brake suddenly.
It cruises really good around town. So far got it up to 45 on PCH and it rides surprisingly nice. I wouldn't take it on the freeway though unless I got a front brake.
I picked it up from this Rockabilly kid who had to do a quick sell. He was leaving for Europe to go travel and back pack for over a year. He picked it up about a year ago from a guy in Bakersfield. Never rode it outta second gear (too hard for him to ride I guess?)
He picked it up for around $5k
I ended up getting it for $3,700
Said no more than 4 hrs after listing it on CL he had over 15 calls! LOL
He was in riverside, I drove out there after work in bumper to bumper traffic to snatch it up before another dood.
I could prolly turn and flip it, but the bike's dope and wont depreciate unless I smash in to the back of someone. LOL

Still, sick bike man, I'm jealous! Time to start looking for a bobber :)

As odd as this may sound, the bike may be up for sale.
Recently serviced (by me of course) with new gear oil and engine oil
If someone is interested, please PM me.
Something else may have come up and depending on the sale on this bike will determine if I can get my hands on the "other" bike.
The other bike is considerally more, but I've been bitten by the bug ...
UGH, why can't I have a money tree?

I'm not looking to make a buck off a fellow SCM'r. I have no problem unloading it for what I paid. Rather see someone here get it and keep it in the fam.
Practical? LOL
I have 8 vehicles in my garage that aren't practical. I do things that make me happy, ya only live once. If we only did things that are practical, life as we know it would be BORING
Not to mention there is nothing practical about the common interest we all share.

After 5pm fo sho. Gonna run at the beach and go for a swim, lovely weather!
And likely in the garage tinkering. If I don't answer the phone/texts, it's cause I'm greasy in the garage.

A friend of ours has 23 (yes, twenty-three) vintage Triumphs, BSAs, and Nortons, plus a couple of newer H-Ds and a Multistrada. All the old bikes run, and he has a log book in the garage so he makes sure they each get ridden regularly. When he lamented that he was running out of garage space, my husband offered to buy any one of the old Brit bikes. "Uh, gosh, well...I don't think I want to sell any of those. Wanna buy the Multistrada?"
You two have much in common. :laughing

Man.. I've been there done that and tired of losing my ass.
I had over $30k in that Nova built since 1995.. sold it for pennies on the dollar.
Lincoln over 20K "might" be able to get $10k if I was lucky
I'm don'e building up and selling low. No way jose.. I have NO problem buying up someone elses dream and enjoying the piss outta it. Turning and selling it what I paid. The way I see it, these are like savings accounts that I get to enjoy more.

I have about 6 more feet behind the already expanded garage. But I got my shed back there with my lawnmower etc.
I would love nothing more than to expand the sides of it. I HATE yard work, grass, weeds, roots, bugs, birds, cats, dogs, and anything else wild that likes to bark, chirp, wake me up, shit, crawl, bite shed etc...
I would LOVE to concrete the whole yard and build a half pipe or even install an outdoor car lift.
I hate yards.. it's a never ending weed session along with wasted water just to keep it green. All so it can grow and drop leaves everywhere and repeat the clean up process the following month.
