What color is the lowest strength loctite? I need it for a fairing bolt I'll have to remove later, and I want to avoid, as Mark called it, "fuck the next guy" strength.

but blue is stronger, easy to get, and is meant to be removable. red is the one that is very very strong

How easily can you remove a bolt with the blue on it? Can you do it with a normal wrench?

For sure, I deal with it on computer parts all the time. Tough, but easily done.

You don't need loctite on farring bolts. You a need a plastic washer.

every chain autoparts store will have it. If they don't tell them they suck and go to the next one.

Home Depot had another Loctite product, but it wasn't the threadlocker.

I went to a Pep Boys and a Kragen, and neither had it. Luckily the dealership had it, so problem solved.

They make green too. Green is actually considered permanent. You use it to hold things like cylinder sleeves in. If you really want to get the "next guy" ITB, put some green on your bolts and then sell it soon.

Put enough Blue on the threads and you have a good time with that bolt removal. Just a dot of it will do the trick.

:werd Some of these people saying blue is removable but still takes some oomph must be using the whole tube on one bolt.

You got it. I had to transport some steel sheets on top of my truck rack about 900 miles. I put the Blue all over (on purpose) the bolt threads to ensure the nuts would not wiggle free. I knew the potential danger, but I was also willing to cut the bolts. In the end the nuts held, but I also bent some of the bolts twisting them off. Blue is strong.

Again, a small, I mean small dab on the bolts will hold down bike plastics. More and you could be asking for a lame time unless your intent is for them to not come off.

WTF? When have you ever needed lock-tite on something in a computer? Running a 140mm fan on the proc at 8000rpm or something?

And the "Blue" strength comes in a red tube. The "RED" strength comes in a red tube and the "GREEN" comes in a red tube as well. So make sure you're getting the right stuff by reading the label.

If you can't find it at Auto Zone, Pep Boys or Kragen, look for the brand "Permatex" same stuff...different brand.

Thanks for the clear nailpolish tip as loctite alternative.
